Learning that your pet needs surgery can be stressful. At Westside Animal Hospital, we adhere to strict AAHA guidelines regarding anesthesia and monitoring, and we’re fully committed to keeping your pet safe and comfortable throughout any procedure.
We perform pre-anesthesia evaluations on all pets prior to any surgical procedure. These examinations can reveal risk factors, such as heart murmurs, that need to be taken into account. We also perform pre-anesthesia blood work on all surgery patients.
We adhere to strict protocols set by AAHA for the administration of anesthesia and pain management, and one of our veterinary technicians monitors each patient’s vital signs throughout any surgery.
We perform most soft tissue procedures in our modern surgical suite. Soft tissue surgeries are those that do not involve bones or joints. Examples include:
- Spays and neuters
- Gastrointestinal surgery
- Eye surgery
- Foreign body removal
- Mass removal
- Bladder stone removal
- Tooth extractions
- And more
Once every two weeks, Westside Animal Hospital welcomes a visiting board certified orthopedic surgeon to perform non-emergency orthopedic procedures, such as knee or hip surgeries. If your pet requires a procedure that affects the bones or joints, we can arrange a time for them to see our visiting orthopedic surgeon.
